Abstract

The relationship between laboratory tests and field emergence of eight soybean Glycine max (L.) Merrill seed lots was studied at the Seed Laboratory of the Agriculture and Horticulture Department of the Escola Superior de Agricultura "Luiz de Queiroz", Universidade of São Paulo, Brazil. The data were obtained bimonthly, during six months, comparing standard germination, first-count, speed of germination, accelerated aging, cool germination and K+ leachates to field emergence. Standard germination, first-count and speed of germination were found to be related to field emergence. It was also concluded that using simple correlation coefficients can be misleading to compare laboratory results to field emergence.
