Abstract

Soybean production competitiveness was tested in a cash crop farm of the Campinas Region, SP. Two cases were considered: one, in which the farmer was seen as being profit maximize and risk neutral; in the other case, he was considered to be risk averter. Soybean production was found to be competitive in both cases. Mathematical programming was shown to be a practical tool in farm planning in Brazil.
