Abstract

'Centenária' (IAC SR-51) is a new plum cultivar selected as a result of a breeding program conducted at the Instituto Agronômico, Campinas, SP, Brazil. It was selected from a seedling of the Santa Rita cultivar, probably open-pollinated by 'Roxa de Itaquera' or 'Kelsey Paulista'. Its most important characteristics are low chilling requirement, high plant productivity and late maturation of large, spherical, slightly heart-shaped fruits of dark red color with a pronounced sweet flavor and of moderate acidity (Brix 15º and pH 4,1).
