Data of days to flower and number of trifoliolate leaves of soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrill) were obtained in a five parent diallel experiment, under short day conditions. Hill, Bragg, UFV-1, IAC 73-2736 and PI 159925 were the parental lines or cultivar included in this study. Correlation and genetical analysis of the two characteristics were performed. A strong genetical correlation was obtained between days to flower and number of trifoliolate leaves and the analysis showed that in the studied material one major gene was involved in each case. Probably, only a single gene is in control of both characteristics.
