Abstract

A key for and illustrations of 21 taxa under Rhaphiptera Audinet-Serville, 1835, including five new species (R. melzeri, R. roppai, R. alvarengai and R. seabrai from Brazil and R. tavakiliani from French Guiana) are presented, besides the following nomenclatorial changes: 1) R. planipennis Zajciw, 1960,is a new synonym of R. gahani Gounelle, 1908; 2) R. gahani var. clarevestita Tippmann, 1953 is a full species, not a variety of gahani; 3) R. albicans Breuning, 1940,is revalidated (not a synonym of R. obtusipennis Melzer, 1935).
