Abstract

This work examined the total toxic aidioarb residues in whoie coftee injits, roasled and non-roasled cottee rind and beans, after a soil application of Temik 150(20 ou 40 kglha) aI different Intervais before harvesting. The residues were extrated by blending lhe sample with a niixture of acetona and water, lhe
aidicarb residues were oxidized to aldicarb suilone by lhe addition of acetic acid lo lhe exlracting solvent, After appropriate cleanup ol the extact on a fiorisli column, the peslicide residues were detemiined as aldicarb suilone by gas chromatography utihzing a llame-photonieiric detector. The residues lound in dried whole htjits were 0.06 ppm, 0.23 ppm, 0.38 pprn, 0,13 ppm and 0.05 pprnlordosage 16 kg/ha and 0.20 ppm, 0.53 ppm, 0.40 ppm, 0.20 ppm and 0.13 ppm (dosage 32 kglha), corresponding respecliveiy to the application carried oul at 15, 30, 45, 60 and 90 days before harvesting. The residue leveis In lhe rind were much higher lhan in lhe beans; lhe residue concentalion in the beans Irorn ali teaúnenls was lower than the hmit ol detecton by lhe analytical melhod used (0.02 ppm). The residue concenation in roasted rind frorn ali treanents was lower flian lhe iimit ol detection in roasted samples (0.03 ppm), which indicated that niost ol lhe residues were eliminated during lhe roasting process.
