Abstract

The objective of the present paper was to identify the best planting dates for the upland rice variety IAC-1246 in the Pindorama Region, São Paulo, Brazil. The length of the growth period was estimated in relation to the biometeorological indexes, which had previously been developed for such variety. A good planting date has been defined, as the one, when the plant receives at least 4 mm of rainfall per day, during the flowering period, whereas at the ripening stage the rainfall is greatly reduced. The results indicated that the best planting dates lie between October 21st and November 21st, when the probability of a 4 mm rainfall per day during the flowering stage Is higher than 70%.
