Abstract

The quality of soybean seeds of the cultivar, Santa Rosa, IAC-3 and UFV-1 were evaluated when produced in virgin cerrado soil, recuperated cerrado soil and soil of good fertility. Soon after the harvest the seeds of cultivars Santa Rosa and IAC-3 showed higher germination and good seed vigor in soil of good fertility. After twelve months of storage the seeds obtained in good fertility soil showed higher germination whereas the cultivar IAC-3 showed greater seed vigor in the virgin cerrado soil. In general, cultivar and locality had the greatest effect on seed quality. IAC-3 produced in soil of good fertility showed the best results.
