Abstract

The objective of this work was to define a technique of selection of maize kernels resistant to the maize weevil (Sitophilus zeamais). Susceptible and resistant kernels were mixed together and infested with S. zeamais for 15 days. It was observed that the weevils found the susceptible kernels and used most of them for feeding and oviposition. Germination tests after infestation showed that the resistant kernels produced more plants than the susceptible ones.
