For controlling weeds on young plantation of rubber tree, the following herbicides and mixtures were studied: ametryne (2-ethylamino) - 4-(isopropylamino) - 6-(methylthio) - s – triazine), simazine (2- chloro - 4, 6- bis -ethylamino- s - triazine), paraquat (1,1'- dimethyl -4,4' bipyridylium) 20%, diuron (3- (3,4 - dichlorophenyl) 1,1 - dimethylurea), 2,4-D/MCPA (salamine of 2,4 dichlorophenoxyacetic acid and salamine of 4- chloro-2-methylphenoxyacetic acid), simazine + ametrine, paraquat + diuron, and 2,4-D/MCPA + paraquat. The most frequent weeds were: Phytolacca sp., Imperata brasiliensis Trin., Thelanthera amoena Regel., Bidens cynapiifolia H.B.K., Mendoncia sp., Euphorbia brasiliensis Lam., Paspalum amazonicum Trin., Euphorbia sp. and cipó-de-capoeira" (unknown). Paraquat + diuron applied in post-emergence obtained the best results in controlling the most frequent weeds. Diuron and simazine as pre-emergence showed good efficiency in controlling Bidens cynapiifolia H.B.K. To control Euphorbia brasiliensis, the mixture 2,4-D/MCPA + paraquat as post-emergence showed satisfactory results. There were no statistical differences among the treatments as to control ling of Phytolacca sp., Imperata brasiliensis, Thelanthera amoena, Mendoncia sp., Paspalum amazonicum and "cipó-de-capoeira" (unknown).
