An evaluation of the effect of poultry manure on grain yield of black beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L.), using two methods of application (in row and broadcasted), with or without chemical fertilization. The effect of manure application in row on three successive croppings and in row and broadcasted on one cropping were studied in two distinct trials. Results obtained evidenced the economic feasibility of utilizing poultry manure for black beans, with or without chemical fertilization. In the first cropping year, broadcasting of manure showed greater efficacy than in row distribution. It was also possible to quantify doses of manure for the maximum economic yield in terms of its cost and the revenue obtained with the sale of beans.
