Distribution and prevalence of races of Puccinia coronata avenae in Rio Grande do Sul

Samples collected in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, from 1970 to 1972 were studied through 191 isolates of Puccinia coronata Cda. var. avenae Fraser & Led, continuing previous surveys of physiologics races. Races 201, 202, 203, 207, 211, 213, 226, 227, 230, 236, 237, 238, 258, 263, 265, 276, 277, 279 and race A were identified. Races 238 and 263 were prevalent in 1970 and races 263 and 276 in 1971 and 1972. The percentage of the most prevalent races from 1959 to 1972 is presented. In continuation of previous surveys into physiologically different races of Puccinia coronata Cda. var. avenae samples were collected in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil from 1970 to 1972.
