Abstract

Two field experiments were carried out to observe the effect of pruning on the yield of tomato plants Lycopersicum esculentum Mill at the Instituto de Pesquisas Agropecuárias Meridional (IPEAME), Colombo, Paraná, Brazil, using eleven tomato varieties. The results were presented as: a) the total production, b) the total marketable tomatoes, and c) the total first grade tomatoes, of each variety. Statistical analysis indicated that pruning caused a significant reduction in the three parameters studied in all eleven varieties.
