Abstract

Studies if seedlings, 35-40 days after planting, showed highly significant correlation (phenotypic) between total N and plant height, total dimensions of folioles and the dry weight of nodules, leaves and the whole plant. Selection for total N can be done early, without the elimination of the individual plant, through the measurement of total foliolar dimensions. This measurement is the sum of the length and width of all folioles at the time of observation.
