The incidence of gastro-intestinal nematodes in both male and female bovines of several ages is reported. The mentioned animals came from 13 different counties of the State of Mato Grosso where trey were born and raized. Sixty-five cattle carcasses were examined over the years 1968, 1969 and 1970, and the following results were found, Cooperia Ransom, 1907, 61.5% (Cooperia punctata v. Linstow, 1907, 82,4%, Cooperia pectinata Ransom, 1907, 17.6%), Haemonchus Cobb, 1898, 53.8% (Haemonchus similis Travassos, 1914, 76.1%, Haemonchus contortus (Rudolphi, 1803) 23.9%), Oesophagostomum radiatum (Rudolphi, 1803) 26.1%, Bunostomum phlebotomum (Railliet, 1803) 23.0%, Trichuris discolor (v, Linstow, 1906) 7.6%, Trichostrongylus axei (Cobbold, 1879) 6.1%. The authors emphasize the high prevalence of Haemonchus similis in areas of the State of Mato Grosso, and demonstrate the presence of Haemonchus contortus in cattle. The paper is illustrated with five diagrams.
