Abstract

Two experiments were conducted each lasting 43 days. For each experiment, 16 young pigs were divided into two groups one serving as a control. The results are as follows: 1) The animals fed Opaque 2 corn showed an average daily weight gain of 288 g and a feeding efficiency of 4.10 kg of seed per kg gain. The cost was NCr$ 0.84 per kg/weight gain; 2) The control animals, receiving a common type of corn, showed an average daily weight gain of only 63 g and a feeding efficiency of 10.60 kg of feed per kg of gain. The cost was NCr$ 2.79 per kg of gain.
