Abstract

Studies on enzootic hematuria and epidermoid carcinoma of the upper digestive tract in cattle in the State of Santa Catarina, Brazil, were continued. Further data on the occurrence and distribution of these diseases were collected. Post-mortem examinations and histopathological studies on bovines affected were performed. A total of 44 cases of these diseases have been studied. The results of these studies confirm those obtained previously on the subject and presented three new aspects of post-mortem findings and histopathological changes. The presence of metastases in internal organs of two animals, the presence of giant cells in the carcinoma of the upper digestive tract of two others, and the presence of carcinoma in the bladder in two bovines with enzootic hematuria.
