Abstract

The purpose of this work was to test the efficiency and best dosagens of the formicide Basformid F-214 dry powder (a mixture of 5% Aldrin with Esther-2 chlorofenol of 5% sulfo-vinila acid) in the species of sauba ants Atta bisphaerica Forel, 1908, Atta laevigata Fred. Smith, 1858 and Atta sexdens rubropilosa Forel, 1903. The formicide was used at a dosage of 15 g and 20 g/m2 of loose soil. In the field 60 sauba anthills were treated, 20 of each type and 10 for each dosage. The final results showed that the dosage of 20 g/m2 of loose soil had an average efficiency of 80% for the species, and the average efficiency of the dosage of 15 g/m2 of loose soil was 66,66%. The general average efficiency was 73,33%. These results were obtained with only one application of the formicide, without repeating the process.
