Abstract

Clinical examination of 3317 rams, used for reproduction, revealed 6.5% to be affected with epididymitis. Confirmation of a great number of such cases was obtained by laboratory tests. Palpable lesions of the genital organs presented 10.8% of the total number of animals examined. In 60.9% of these cases such abnormalities were caused by epididymitis. The highest incidence, 11.2% of the affected animals, occured in rams of the Romney Marsh breed. Only 6 (11.5%) of 52 animals with typical lesions of epididymitis secreted a semen of normal appearance.
