The modified 1000 ml glass cylinder is 7 cm in diameter and 38 cm high. It has two stems located at 5 cm and 20 cm from the 1000 ml mark. Each stem is 2.5 cm in diameter and is sealed by a rubber stopper. A Luer-type stainless steel hypodermic needle (80 cm x 0.25 cm) is introduced in the center of each rubber stopper in such a way that their points are 5 cm and 20 cm below the 1000 ml mark on the main axis of the cylinder. The beveled edge of each needle must be facing the bottom of the cylinder (see Fig. 1). The needle points are closed during the time of analysis by a Luer-type female slip previously obstructed by au Araldite-type synthetic resin.
