The seeds were obtained from a field experiment conducted in Sertãozinho, SP, in a sugar cane renovation area. The poor physiological seed quality of some of the genotypes could be attributed to adverse climatic conditions occurring during the final stages of maturation of the plants. The medium early maturing genotypes showed better germination. There was a tendency of better protein content for the late maturing genotypes. A positive association was observed between the high oil content and early maturing. The results seem to show that each genotype has his particular nutritional requirement and capacity to extract the nutrients from the soil.Downloads
