Abstract

Dry matter and grain yield of the temperate forages italian ryegrass, rye and oats: 'Coronado', 'Preta', 'Suregrain', UFRGS-1, UFRGS-2 and UFRGS-3, were evaluated in a drained Gley Humic Soil at CPAC/EMBRAPA (Planaltina, DF, Brazil). A split-plot experimental design was used, with four replications. Dry matter was evaluated in the main plot, with zero, one and two forage cuts. In the sub-plot grain yield was estimated. Statistical differences were found in dry matter yield and grain yield. Dry matter yield with two cuts varied from 2260 to 4150 kg/ha. Grain yield was affected by cuts. Without cut, grain yield varied from 550 to 3190 kg/ha. With one cut, to estimate dry matter, grain yield varied from 590 to 1430 kg/ha. With two cuts, grain yield was very low or zero. Crude protein and organic matter digestibility were higher than 18.5% and 67.0%, respectivelly. Statistical differences were found on data of these parameters.
