Abstract

The present work was conducted at the Escola Superior de Agricultura de Lavras (ESAL), Lavras, MG, Brazil. The objective was to determine the polyembryonic rate in Rangpur lime (Citrus limonia Osbeck). The correlation and posterior regression analyses were made, based on data obtained from 57 harvested fruits. The parameters analyzed were: total number of seeds, number of viable seed, seed viability and rate of polyembryony. Based on the results obtained, it was concluded that, 1. the age of the fruits is correlated with seed viability; 2. in this trial there was no correlation with the parameters: total number of seeds, number of viable seeds and rate of polyembryony; 3. the polyembryony rate of the Rangpur lime was 1.41 embryo/seed; 4. the ideal range for counting the individualized embryos within the seed is between 28 and 34 mm of fruit diameter.
