Abstract

The present work was conducted at the Escola Superior de Agricultura de Lavras (ESAL), Lavras, MG, Brazil. The objective was to determine the effect of pollination on the polyembryony and to identify the hybrid Citrus limonia Osbeck cv. Cravo x Poncirus trifoliata (L.) Raf. The variables analysed were: number of seeds per fruit, number of viable seeds, viability and diameter of fruits, and total number of embryos. The analysed variables were submitted to correlation analysis. It was concluded that the evaluated parameters are not correlated with the age of the fruits; the ideal range for score of embryos was 27.0 to 34.0 mm diameter of fruits; the polyembryonic rate was affected by controlled pollination; the identification of the seedling is possible after the sprouting of the fourth pair of leaves.
