A field experiment was carried out in a Humic Gley soil (Haplaquept), to stablish the optimum water table level for soybean, corn and rice production. The experiment was located between two drains spaced 15 m. The upper drain was filled out with water to be used as a recharge source, and the other drain was kept empty, therefore obtaining a water potential gradient between the drains, and the grain yield was related to the water table levels. The best corn yields were obtained when the water levels were located between 60 and 70 cm deep in the soil. No response was found for soybean and rice grain yield in relation to the other water table levels.
