Field trials were conducted with nine maize seeders manufactured by five industries (PSM, PAR-2800 and PL-2000, from Semeato; JM-2000 e JM-2040, from Jumil; TMS-656, from Max; PST and STP, from Marchesan; PP-F/A-6/8, from Baldan) and the results showed that all have presented different efficiency in precision of sowing (spacing hill), stand (number of plants per hectare), fertilizer distribution (Kilos per hectare) and seed depth control. The seeds did not have any quality problem after leaving the distribution mechanisin of the seeders. Concerning the performance of the tractor-seeder combination, the TMS obtained the least sfppage and JM-2000 the lowest fuel consumption. All seeders showed lower power demand than that presented in the factory catalogs.
