A dendrometric inventary and an anatomical study of wood of eight species from caatinga were carried out. The total biomassa per m3 of dry wood was determined and the quantity of cellulose and lignin per m3 of wood was estimated. The qualification of wood for energy generation was made based on specific weight, wall fraction of fibers, 0,80 percentual factor, and frequency of the fibers. In the floodable caatinga, 287 trees/ha were evidenced which provided 288 t/ha of dry wood.
