The study evaluates the hypothesis that prices in the Curitiba and São Paulo wholesale vegetable markets effectively reflect all information available. The analysis of intertemporal pricing efficiency, performed for potato, tomato and carrots, has shown that this hypothesis cannot be rejected at the usual significance levels. It is therefore concluded that the market information systems have been sufficiently capable of disseminating, through prices, all information about marketing conditions in the markets studied.
