Abstract

The genetic variability and the genotypic determination coefficient of 26 characters related to aerial part and root system in guaraná seedlings (Paullinia cupana var. sorbilis) were estimated. The clones showed high variability for all characters evaluated. The genotypic determination coefficient was superior to 70% for majority of the characters demonstrating that application of simple breeding methods can result in good selection gains.
