Abstract

The present work aimed at testing different artificial cross techniques in Brazilian oat (Avena sativa L.) genotypes. Crosses comparing the approaching method, cut flower, and open flower techniques were made in a greenhouse during 1989, 1990, and 1991. A completely randon design was used in the first experiment, and a randomized complete-block design was used in the other three experiments. Analyses of variance were made using the modified data from the percentage of grain obtained. Among the techniques tested, the approaching method was superior under adequate temperature. All techniques were similar under stress conditions.
