Abstract

The conservation of turnip (Raphanus sativus L. var. oleiferus Metzg), seeds packed in three types of package and stored during 24 months under the climatic conditions of Ponta Grossa, PR, Brazil, was evaluated. Seed samples from the different package types were analyzed for moisture content, germination and sanity. Seeds with 7% of moisture content packed in burlop ("juta"), multifoil paper, or tressed polypropylene bags showed no significant reduction of germination vigor. The occurrence of Alternaria raphani decreased significantly during the period of study.
