Abstract

Fruits of four guava (Psidium guajava L.) cultivars ('Brune Vermelha', 'IAC-4', 'Pirassununga Vermelha' and 'Rubi x Supreme') and three local selections ('RBS 1', 'RBS 2', 'RBS 3') were analysed about physical characteristics. The purpose of this research was to select the best cultivar for industrial or natural consumption. RBS 1, RBS 2 and RBS 3 selection showed the highest longitudinal diameter (LD) and transversal diameter (TD), LD/TD relation, flesh weight (FW) and brain weight (BW). IAC-4 showed the highest firmness, while RBS 2 selection had the best relation FW/BW. On the other hand, flesh thickness (FT), brain thickness (BT) and FT/BT relation didn't show differences among cultivars and selections.
