Abstract

Wheat Triticum sp. cultivars BR 33 - Guará and BR 39 - Paraúna were selected in Planaltina, DP, Brazil, from varietal introductions of CIMMYT, Mexico in 1983. After being tested in regional variety trials between 1989 and 1991, they were recommended at the National Commission for Wheat Research for irrigated cultivation in the dry season. BR 33 - Guará and BR 39 - Paraúna, evaluated as CPAC 841222 and CPAC 841244, are recommended for cultivation in Goiás, Minas Gerais and Federal District, respectively. Their performance was superior to the standard, cultivars BR 10 - Formosa and Anahuac, for grain yield, resistance to some diseases, and other desirable agronomic characteristics.
