From 1984 to 1988, at the Cooperativa Agrária Mista Entre-Rios Ltda., in Guarapuava, Paraná, Brazil, the effects of rotation systems for barley were assessed. The economic analysis of these systems is presented in this paper. Four rotation systems for barley were studied: system I (100% of barley, in winter, and 100% of soybean, in summer); system II (50% of barley and 50% of commom vetch, in winter, and 50 % of soybean and 50 % of corn, in summer); system III (33 % of barley, 33 % of flax and 33 % of common vetch, in winter, and 66 % of soybean and 33 % of corn, in summer); and system IV (25 % of barley, 25 % of flax, 25 % of white oat and 25 % of commom vetch, in winter, and 75 % of soybean and 25 % of corn, in summer). Both winter and summer crops were sown under no-tillage. A randomized complete block design with four replications and plots with 60 m2 were used. Even though the global analysis showed no difference among rotation systems, the system II (barley/soybean and common vetch/corn) tended to be more attractive and presented higher gross retum when compared annually with other rotation systems.Downloads
