Abstract

The increasing difficulty of the varietal identification, of similar rice seeds suggests the adoption of new methods or the association of known ones to facilitate the physical quality determination of seeds. For this reason, a group of 22 rice cultivars was morphologicaly described and classified according to the phenol and potassium hydroxide tests. These methods were also associated to establish a varietal identification scheme. This scheme can be improved by other characteristics and applied to a larger number of cultivars.
