Abstract

Two natural putative hybrids were analysed by isozymes. Manihot nana and M. nogueirae were tested with the SKD, G6PDH, NADHDH, GOT, ACP, SOD, LAP, AK and NADPHDH, systems. M. hilariana and M. saficifolia, with the IDH, MDH, PGI, PGD, and MR systems. The analysis were made with the Jaccard's similarity index, and the results indicated that there is no hybrid between M. nana and M. nogueirae, but probably there is a hybrid between M. hilariana and M. salicifolia. Processes like this could give new allelic combinations, initiating one of the speciation processes in the Manihot genera.
