A water balance model was utilized to estimate risks of water stress to which upland rice (Oriza sativa L.) is exposed when sown during the period of November-December in Dark Red and Yellow Red Latosols of Goiás State. The regions with high climatic risk were characterized in time and space, utilizing a geographic information system. Results showed that the more sowing is delayed, the greater the climatic risk, which increases from North to South and from West to East. Data also showed a great precipitation variability in the State.Downloads
