Based upon a real situation, represented by the study of an area of a quadrangle of the reconnaissance map of soils of the region under influence of Furnas hydroelectrical reservoir, between 20o20' - 20o30'S and 45o20'- 45o30' W.Gr., this paper aimed to discuss a more rational utilization of pedological maps and respective reports. It was made an adjustment of their detail degree to the application scale of their information and a search of easier ways to transmit them to the final user. The detailment involved an aditional pedological characterization and the introduction of socio-economical information, collected from the farmers through the application of informal interviews, analysed with the use of the convergence technique. Beyond the information on the crop systems practiced in the region and the main problems faced by the farmers, this study provided subsides for the election of simple criteria, which facilitate the communication between extensionists and farmers. Some suggestions for minimizing the main problems faced by the farmers are as well presented.Downloads
