Abstract

A sample is designed for a periodic citrus production survey in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. Three alternative designs (simple random sample, stratified sample by region and farm size, stratified sample by region, farm size and group within region) and nine levels of desired variance (10%, 5%, 2.5%, 1%, 0.5%, 0.4%, 0.3%, 0.2% and 0.1%) are compared. A stratified sample by region, size and group at level 1% with 583 elements is suggested.
