Two experiments were carried out in Sape-PB, during 1981-1983 and 1983-1985, with the objective to evaluate four planting seasons (January, April, July and October), three sucker weight (300, 500 and 700g) and floral induction at 10 and 12 months old. At both experiments the soil was Red-Yellow Podzol. The results obtained showed that July and April were the best planting seasons, using suckers from 500g and above. The least favorable planting season was October. The growth cycle was longer with suckers weighing 300g. The fruits harvested at rainy season were more acid. It was observed, also, that pineapple plants are sensible to dry periods at the floral differentiation tine, and that it is possible to obtain a greater number of suckers, when heavier planting materials are used, and with floral induction at later times.
