Isoflavone contents of 100 soybean (Glycine max (L.) Merrili) cultivars frorn the germplasrn bank of the Centro Nacional de Pesquisa de Soja (CNPSo/EMBRAPA), sown in the 1993-94 season, were determined by high performance liquid cromatography (HPLC). Cultivars FT-Canarana, UFV-9, BABR-31 and FT-13 showed low contents of isofiavones (16.78; 22.26; 25.56; and 29.58 mg/100 g, respectively), while EMBRAPA-20 had the highest level (172.94 mg/100 g). High temperatures (2t 24'C in average) during seed developinent, decreased the amount of isoflavones. Soybean cultivars sown in Porangatu, GO (13' S latitude) had lower levels of isofiavones compared to the same cultivars; sown in Londrina, PR, (23º 12' S latitude) probably due to differences in temperature between the two places.Downloads
