Abstract

This article analyzes the limits of the different academic approaches used to evaluate the potential of extractivism of renewable natural resources in the context of Amazonian development. For this, bibliographical research was adopted as the methodological procedure, which is justified by the need to contextualize the extractivism of renewable natural resources as a historical process especially because it is continually present in the diverse socioeconomic realities of the Amazon. The results and conclusions showed that analyzing the possibilities of products extracted from renewable natural resources (woods, fruits, resins, etc.) only by neoclassical economic orthodoxy would be an outdated perspective and should be discarded.
