Abstract

This work describes the “private subsystem of technological innovation” for Brazilian agriculture, its components and performance. Particularly, it analyzes the segments that participate in the “subsystem” as inputs for the Brazilian agribusiness, as follows: seeds and seedlings; pesticides and herbicides; inoculants and growth regulators; agricultural and agro-industrial machines; fertilizers; animal feed industry; vaccines and veterinary products; artificial insemination; ingredients, cosmetics and packing; management software and information technologies. Data concerning these segments were gathered in the proper literature from sites that publish work on the themes treated in this analysis (for instance, the Ministry of Agriculture), and in interviews with Brazilian professionals who work with similar subjects in several organizations. Data analysis has allowed of the identification of a positive performance of the agribusiness for some segments, and opportunities for the improvement of others.
