Effects of naphthalene acetic acid and 6-benzylaminopurine on In vitro proliferation of cactus Gymnocalicium buldiamur L. and Mammilaria bocassana L.

Abstract

Radial segments of plantlets of Gymnocalicium buldiamur L. and Mammiliaria bocassana L. were inoculated on 'MS' medium supplemented with various concentrations of 6-benzylaminopurine (0.0, 1.0, 2.0, 4.0, 8.0 and 16.0 mg/l) and naphthalene acetic acid (0.0, 0.1 and 1.0 mg/l), pH 5.7 and agar 7 g/l. The cultures were grown at 27° ± 1°C with 16 hours of photoperiods (3.000 lux). Proliferation of shoots was maximized by BAP 4.0 mg/l for G. buldiamur, whereas it had no effect for M. bocassana regardless of the NAA concentration, and the rooting tended to decrease in higher NAA concentrations for G. buldiamur. Calli were unfrequents in absence of BAP. BAP induced vitrification of shoots with less intensity in M. bocassana.
