Abstract

With the objective of contributing to the implementation of guidelines for the promotion of healthy food in primary and secondary schools, and seeking to make the Brazilian National School Feeding Program (PNAE) more efficient, the National Education Development Fund (FNDE) established a partnership with the Brazilian federal institutions of Higher Education, which culminated in the creation of the Cecanes (collaborating centers for school feeding). These centers are reference and support units constituted within the federal institutions of higher education to develop actions of interest to the PNAE and needed by it, such as extension projects and training of the actors of the program, providing technical support to the executing agencies. This study aims at quantifying the school feeding policy, discussing the factors related to its execution, based on data collection based on the execution of the program in 22 municipalities of the state of Minas Gerais and the analysis of the actions developed by the Cecane/IFSULDEMINAS, in order to guarantee an effective implementation of the PNAE. 588 social actors were trained. Thus, it can be concluded that the objectives of Cecane have been reached, as it contributes to the implementation of guidelines for the promotion of healthy eating in schools and makes the implementation of PNAE more effective, enabling the integration of society and the state in the performance of public policies.
